Data-driven, Human-centric Representations to Empower Decision-making in Complex Learning Environments

Overview

Human-in-the-Loop is a project aim to explore and identify how to support human’s decision making in complex learning environments through data representations. Investigate, design and implement various data visualizations and representations to enhance learners’ causal effect inferences.

I worked with 2 PIs and 1 post-doc in the project. My role in the project includes scoping research questions, design and develop interventions and instruments, pilot testing, data collection and analysis.

  1. How can data representations support learners’ causal inferences in complex immersive learning environment?

  2. What design interventions work in this context?

  3. How do we measure the effects of the intervention?

Moderated Usability Testing

To understand if users can seamlessly participate the data animation storytelling activity, I led a usability testing. We recruited the users on the museum floor and asked them if they are interested in tell us a story by rearrange the order of the GIFs of how plants died in the biome.
